🤓 Many of us know the research that supports sharing a goal with an Accountability Buddy, especially when we admire and respect that person.

When we verbally share a goal, we're actually up to 96% more likely to reach it!

UNLESS… and here’s the catch … we share our goal too soon, and someone kills our enthusiasm with their cynicism.

When we share a goal it’s our steadfast conviction in this ambitious target that spurs others to rally around us. When we first believe in the purpose and meaning of our goal, naysayers can’t pull us off course.

However, if we’re vulnerable and not certain about the goal, sharing it with others who aren’t supportive can suck the life out of it and leave us feeling defeated before we even begin.

Remarks such as...

"Who are you to write a novel?"

"Really? You? Run a marathon? Good luck with that."

"Starting a business takes serious chops. You didn’t even major in business."

"Hmmmm, me thinks someone is having a mid-life crisis … early."

And so on...

Feedback such as the comments above can fill us with Self-doubt if we aren’t clear and committed prior to sharing.

💡 Here are 4 insightful questions to ask before you share:

1) Why am I sharing my goal with this specific person? What am I hoping to get from them?

2) If I don’t get what I want, how will that impact me? My goal?

3) How powerfully committed am I to my goal, irrespective of others’ reactions?

4) Am I truly ready to share?

AND … when you are truly ready to share, I highly encourage you to pick people you love and respect who love and respect you.

Until then, keep your gorgeous goals to yourself and do the work of believing in Yourself and the beautiful future you are creating.

Then, when you share your goals and the nay-sayers “nay” you can respond with a smile and inner steadfastness knowing that with or without their support, you got this goal!

One of my favorite things to do every February is travel to San Jose del Cabo to see all the humpback whale calves that are born and learning to breech. This experience fills me with awe and wonder EVERY TIME – I get simultaneously excited & teary eyed.

On the water I’m heart-centered. Fully present. Feeling connected. Oozing bliss.

Afterwards, we catch small fish, make fresh ceviche and sip a margarita. It’s glorious.

This opportunity to reset, re-center, and re-energize helps me show up better in the world, AND it re-fuels my energetics. I return home fired up, ignited to play full out again, and eager to show my baby fluke pics to anyone who asks!

All of this makes me a waaay happier BEING when I return to my desk & my Clients.

Think about how we design our lives – everywhere, every aspect.

Think cooking, clothes, how we share ideas, heck, how we do just about everything.

Creating connects us to our Essential Self. When we’re creating, we’re learning more about who we are at our core: what drives us, what we’re passionate about, the impact we want to have, what we care most about and the longings and desires that reside deep inside us.

When we’re creating, we’re in a state of discovery.

And that’s a very cool state to be in.

My own coach shared with me the other day that one of my biggest Soul Purposes while I’m here is to become a better Creator.
