1 Way to Show Kindness to Others

We ALL make mistakes, and hopefully, we learn from them, grow and play better.

What’s less common was THIS person’s response to when someone trespassed against her.

Watch and see.

Hey, there. AmyK here.

I wanted to take a quick moment to share an experience that I had the other day that was absolutely beautiful and really unexpected because it doesn’t happen very often.

I was at lunch and we found out, I was at lunch with a girlfriend, and we found out that we had this mutual connection in common.

I had just met this other lady and I was like, oh my gosh, I can’t believe you know her. And then the look that came over her face was like, oh there’s a story here about the two of you and I said, You know, I don’t want to step on toes, but I said, is there something I should know? Is there something I should be forewarned about?

And she took a deep breath, and she said, No, as a matter of fact, I’m sure she’s really different because that was years ago, and she’s like, enjoy the friendship.

She’s an amazing woman. I probably just saw her at a time when she wasn’t at her best.

And I was blown away. Because here’s what most of us do. We’re either snarky or we gossip. Or we tell drama or we share a story that’s not our story to share.

But this woman who’s been a good friend of mine took the high road and said, She’s probably not the same woman, and that would be great. And the fact that you like her now says to me that she’s not the same woman.

And I thought, I just have to share this because the beauty and the grace that this woman extended to another human being for which she clearly didn’t have a super positive experience with is one of the kindest, most loving acts I’d witnessed in a long time.

So I just wanted to share it with you.

We all make mistakes.

We all do things on our path of the human journey that aren’t our best selves.

We learn from those.

Hopefully we do, and we grow, and that propels us to then play better, be better, be our higher selves in the next interaction, the next moment, the next decision, the next choice.

But when people who’ve seen us, people who’ve witnessed us not as our best selves and our former parts of our paths, give us the grace to grow and evolve, well, that’s one of the most beautiful acts of kindness we can do from one human being to another.

So from my heart to yours, hugs.

Go out and show people some grace.
